Citizens Against Burning of Tires

About Us

This website represents Citizens Against Burning of Tires (CABOT). We are a team, based in the Pleasant Valley/ Brookfield area of central Nova Scotia, who are concerned with the provincial government's intention to contract with Lafarge Brookfield to burn tires as a source of fuel in their cement kilns. Our group represents the concerns of over 3000 Nova Scotian residents.
This website is intended to act as a democratic site of exchange. Check out our RESOURCES to browse a selection of web accessible references drawn from the 17 page bibliography our group submitted to Dr. Michael Pegg. Dr. Pegg is an Engineer and professor at Dalhousie University, and he has been commissioned to conduct a literature review in order to determine if tire derived fuel (TDF) is a viable fuel source at Brookfield Lafarge.
